Katherine Johnson

Katherine Johnson is a name that will forever remain etched in American history. She was a pioneering mathematician whose work at NASA helped guide the spacecraft that sent Americans to outer space, changing the course of human flight and exploration. Her scientific journey was forged with two simple words: "If they can count it, I can compute it". With that mantra, she inspired the minds of generations to come, becoming an iconic figure in math and science, and an unprecedented role model for women across America. Through her work with NASA, she helped propel the US into space and wrote her name in the history books. She defied the odds, proving that anything is possible if we judge not by our skin color but by our character's strength. A true pioneer, Katherine opened doors for generations of innovators, and her legacy lives on in every lift-off and touchdown.

As a woman of steel, Dorothy J. Vaughan rose up and pushed against the weight of racism and sexism to help America reach for the stars. With determination and courage that knew no bounds, she stood her ground and set an example for all aspiring Americans. Quietly but confidently, she worked her way into the history books as the first African American woman to lead a NASA department; she oversaw computers and programming during some of the most significant years of space exploration. Through her work, Dorothy Vaughan lit the path to a brighter future, inspiring young minds from every background to transcend their circumstances and reach for their dreams. Today, we remember Dorothy J. Vaughan as a leader and innovator whose spirit still lives on.

Mae C. Jemison, a woman of a bold vision and brilliant intellect, broke barriers and opened all new doors. She became the first African American woman to go into space in 1992, paving a way for generations of young women of color to dream higher. She refused to let anyone limit what she could do or be; instead, she followed the trail she knew would make her an inspiration to others. A medical doctor by training and astronaut by ambition, Mae paved the way for future generations to explore space - something that had been considered impossible before. Her tenacity in the face of adversity sent a message that you can – and should- never back down from achieving your wildest dreams. Mae C. Jemison reminds us that we have the power to shape our lives, inspire others, and create a better future.
